investigating enduring questions

Forever Lab at Stanford is a research laboratory, creative studio, and field-building institution. We convene unusual assemblies of people around enduring human questions, creating the conditions for new forms of knowledge and imagination to flourish.

who we are

a new kind of institutional home

In this era of profound change, exploring humanity’s most enduring questions requires new institutional forms.

The questions that most profoundly shape our lives do not belong to any one discipline. How do we respond to loss? How might humanity evolve alongside transformative technologies? How do we build futures worth inheriting?

Despite growing enthusiasm for interdisciplinary work, American academia lacks durable institutional homes where artists, scientists, technologists, humanists, and other practitioners investigate such questions collaboratively. Forever Lab was created to build that missing capacity.

Stanford is an ideal home for this work, where we unite world-leading scholarship with the Bay Area’s culture of experimentation and invention.
